چکیده

Kidney stone disease in children is always a therapeutic challenge. It multifactorial condition and it should be approached, diagnosed treated as such. One of the biggest challenges kidney stones located lower renal calyx. There are currently three main surgical techniques to treat this condition: ESWL—Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy, RIRS—Retrograde IntraRenal Surgery, PCNL—PerCutaneous Nephro-Lithotripsy. In pediatric population, most frequently used method ESWL, event failure, endoscopic procedures second-best choice. article, sample 53 admitted tertiary medical center was examined. Thirty-eight those underwent flexible URS, while remaining 15—micro PCNL. The average size deposit former group 12.2 mm, against 13.5 mm latter. full Stone Free Rate (SFR) achieved RIRS at 84.21 86.7% percutaneous nephrolithotripsy. Flexible ureterorenoscopy MicroPERC two comparably effective methods for treating calyx any size. However, according our data, carries risk complications inpatient care (with mean 3 days). learning curve these urology long relies on limited number patients. patients qualifying restricted also due high efficacy extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy population. Radiation exposure an important factor every endoscopy procedure never exceed limits set ALARA protocol. ESWL remains day treatment choice can performed under ultrasound control. For many parents, first-choice preference their child its greater apparent safety, although data insufficient. Prospective, randomized, multicenter trials definitely needed.

Lower Pole Kidney Stones: PCNL, FURS, OR ESWL?

Since the first successfully performed in 1976 [1], Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) has gradually become the major treatment option for renal stones. Four years later, with the application of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL), it is preferred by many urologists and patients as a low morbidity outpatient procedure. However, with the decrease of incidence of large and complex renal...

Retrograde upper-pole calyceal access for percutaneous nephrolithotripsy of stones in the lower-pole calyx

OBJECTIVE To present the results of upper calyceal access during percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL) for stones in the lower calyx, as PCNL is considered the most effective minimally invasive surgery for managing lower calyceal stones, with percutaneous access either directly to the lower calyx or through an upper or middle calyx. PATIENTS AND METHODS The study included 76 patients with sin...

Clinical effects of FURL and PCNL with holmium laser for the treatment of kidney stones

In the present study, the clinical effects of flexible ureteroscopy lithotripsy (FURL) and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for the treatment of kidney stones of ≤2 cm was studied. Seventy-two patients with kidney stones were randomly divided into the FURL group (n=39) under ureteroscope lithotripsy with holmium laser and PCNL group (n=33) under PCNL with holmium laser and compared their cli...

Tubed vs tubeless PCNL in children.

OBJECTIVE To compare post-operative outcomes between tubeless and conventional large-bore nephrostomy tube drainage following percutaneous nephrolithotomy in children. METHODS The study comprised 54 patients under 14 years of age who were undergoing percutaneous nephrolithotomy at 60 renal units and met the inclusion criteria. They were randomised to placement of a 16F nephrostomy tube (Group...
